Rafe’s Chasm in Gloucester, Massachusetts created the perfect backdrop for Matt & Christine’s incredibly emotional and beautiful surprise proposal on the North Shore.

With dramatic coastal views, rocky cliffs and soft evening light overlooking the ocean, every part of this proposal felt intimate, cinematic and full of emotion. From the moment Matt got down on one knee, Christine’s reaction said everything. There were happy tears, long hugs, laughter and so much genuine love throughout the entire session.

One of my favorite things about photographing proposals is getting to witness such a life-changing moment unfold naturally in front of my camera. The nerves, excitement, surprise and pure happiness always create some of the most meaningful and authentic images.

After the proposal, we explored the stunning scenery around Rafe’s Chasm for a relaxed portrait session overlooking the water. Gloucester and the Cape Ann coastline offer some of the most beautiful locations in Massachusetts for engagement and proposal photography.

The rocky coastline, ocean views and emotional connection between Matt & Christine made every image feel timeless and full of movement and emotion. Their joy throughout the session was absolutely contagious, and every hug, kiss and smile reflected the excitement of this new chapter together.
